The last dynasty of Vietnam, the Nguyen Dynasty, was established in 1802 by Nguyen Phuoc Yi, and lasted until 1945. During
that time, the country was under French rule as part of French Indochina
from 1887. The story was inspired by the film "Indochina" starring Catherine Deneuve.
